Meeting Together

We usually meet on the first and third Sunday and fourth Saturday of every month.

More details

On occasional evenings, we also meet to pray specific services, akathists or canons. Anyone is welcome to join us and pray for specific needs or people. You may also send names to be commemorated during these prayers.

A brooch for the Mother of God and blue skies provided by God, for the feast of the Annunciation.

Blue is the Liturgical colour for feasts of the Virgin Mary, whilst "ladybirds" are named after "Our Lady" due to their red colour matching the red robe she wears, whilst the seven spots represent her seven sorrows.

O Holy, wondrous Martyr Varus, remember the suffering of our relatives who have died outside the Faith, and accept our pleas, and as thou didst intercede for the unbelieving ancestors of Cleopatra and didst free them from eternal suffering, remember those who have died unbaptized and have been buried in an ungodly manner, and pray earnestly that they may be delivered from eternal darkness, that we may all, with one mouth and one heart, praise the Most Merciful Creator unto the ages of ages.

O God our Saviour, who wast pleased to call Thine Only-begotten Son, our Lord and God and Saviour Jesus Christ, the Vine, and in Him hast granted us the fruit of immortality: do Thou now bless this fruit of the vine lying here, and make us Thy servants, who eat of it, partakers of the true Vine.
Keep our lives from harm and ever give us peace, and adorn us with the eternal gifts of grace that none can take away: at the intercessions of our most pure Lady, the Theotokos and ever-Virgin Mary, and of all Thy saints who have pleased Thee down the ages. The seal of the gift of the Holy Spirit.

"Thine honoured apostles hast Thou given to Thy Church, O Lord, as a boast, and therein shine forth the noetic luminaries Peter and Paul, as stars of the Word, shedding light upon the whole world.

At Crowland Abbey, we visited the Orthodox chapel, which is tucked away at the top of a staircase in the belfry. The chapel has not yet been consecrated, but will be so soon. It is intended to be a pan-Orthodox chapel, can hold about 30 (all standing!), and will be a permanent Orthodox presence at the abbey.

The saints are shown to be fair blossoms of the Garden of Eden, laden with the nectar of good works and the sweet scent of Orthodox teachings, whereby our souls are fed and our spiritual thirst is quenched, Come ye therefore, let us hasten beneath their shade and let us bless them as the delight and adornment of the Isles, and as a model and pattern for our lives, for they have received unfading crowns of glory and all together they beseech the Pre-Eternal God for us.
