Meeting Together

We usually meet on the first and third Sunday and fourth Saturday of every month at 10:30am, where the Divine Liturgy is served. More details

On occasional evenings, we also meet to pray specific services, akathists or canons. Anyone is welcome to join us and pray for specific needs or people. You may also send names to be commemorated during these prayers.

Coming out from the service at dawn, we began to regard everything in the light of the glory of Christ's Resurrection, and all appeared different from what it had yesterday; everything seemed better, more expressive, more glorious. Only in the light of the Resurrection does life receive meaning."

On Holy Saturday morning, we received a couple into the Orthodox Church, then together baptised their daughter. Many years to the newly-illumined James, Magdalena and Valeriya!

Thou who arrayest Thyself with light as with a garment; * was taken down
from the Tree by Joseph with Nicodemus, * and looking upon Thee dead,
stripped naked, and without burial, * in his grief and tender compassion he
lamented, saying: * “Woe is me, my sweetest Jesus, * when but a short while ago
the sun saw Thee hanging on the Cross, * it clothed itself in darkness: * the
earth quaked with fear and the veil of the temple was rent in twain. * And now I
see Thee Who for my sake hath willingly submitted to death. * How shall l bury
Thee, O my God? * How shall I wrap Thee in a winding sheet? * How shall l
touch Thy most pure body with my hands? * What funeral lament shall I sing to
Thee, O compassionate One? * I magnify Thy sufferings; * I sing the praises of
Thy burial and Thy Resurrection, ** crying: O Lord, glory be to Thee.”

O Lord, who once didst show forth an olive branch unto the abating of the Flood, through thy divine command: Save us who suffer, through Thy mercy.

Behold, the Bridegroom comes in the middle of the night,
And blessed is the servant He shall find vigilant;
But unworthy is he whom he shall find neglectful.
Beware therefore, O my soul, lest you be weighed down by sleep,
Lest you be given over to death and be closed out from the kingdom;
But rise up crying out: “Holy! Holy! Holy are You our God;
Through the intercessions of the Theotokos, have mercy on us.”

☦ We have completed the forty days that profit our souls. Now let us beg the Lover of man: enable us to see the Holy Week of Thy Passion, that we may glorify Thy mighty work, Thy wonderful plan for our salvation, as we sing with one heart and voice:
“O Lord, glory to Thee!”

Our Lady of Ravensbrück icon is based on an embroidery started by St Maria (Skobstova) of Paris whilst she was in the concentration camp. She never finished the work, as she was took the place of another and was led to the gas-chamber on the 31st March 1945.

Now the powers of heaven with us invisibly do serve.

Do not demand from me worthy fruits of repentance, for my strength has failed within me.
Give me an ever contrite heart and poverty of spirit, that I may offer these to Thee as an acceptable sacrifice, O only

Cheesefare Sunday - Divine Liturgy followed by the Rite of Mutual Forgiveness, whilst the Paschal Canon was sung slowly. It will be heard again with joy at the end of the Fast. Blessed and fruitful fast to all!
Before leaving, the church was decorated in Lenten colours for the upcoming services.

Reception into the Orthodox Church before the Liturgy on the Sunday of the Prodigal Son. Many years to the newly-illumined Theophan!

There are 24 chapters in the Gospel of St Luke. By reading a chapter per day from the 14th December until the 6th January, we will come to the Christmas feast with a fuller understanding of why we celebrate the birth of Christ.

☦Monday:
O army of divine angels, make ready to sing the praises of the ineffable condescension of the Lord. O, ye Magi, come with all speed; O shepherds, make haste. Christ is come, the predestined expectation of the nations and their deliverance.

☦Tuesday:
As far as it was right, Thou wast seen by the prophets. Made man in the last times, Thou hast appeared to all in Bethlehem, city of Judah, and a star showed Thee to the star-gazers, O Thou Who passest all interpretation.

☦Wednesday/Friday:
Compassed about in an abyss of sin, on the unsearchable abyss of Thy tender mercies do I call: bring me out of corruption, O God.
Christ in strange ways comes to His own. Let us make ourselves strangers to sin, and let us receive Him who dwells in the souls of the meek.

☦Thursday:
Let the kings of the whole earth sing rejoicing, and let the companies of the nations be in exceeding joy. Mountains and hills and hollows, rivers and seas, and the whole creation, magnify the Lord who now is born.
